Hailing from Karnal, India, Rahul Juneja (b.1999) is an artist, educator, and provocateur working across moving images, photography, book-making, lecture-performances, installation, and writing. He initiates modes of coming together, develop dialogic forms, and create discursive settings such as workshops, photo walks, and informal shared spaces. He completed his BFA (Painting) from the College of Art, New Delhi and his MFA from Shiv Nadar Institute of Eminence.
Rahul is interested in the expanding contemporary experience of images, and its socio-cultural implications. He also conjuries interfaces and counterings to examine how knowledge is generated, structured and circulated through historical, colonial and mythical frameworks.
He has been a resident at Källhult ett6 in Sweden and currently is a resident at Foreign objekt.
Rahul's work has been shown in Into the Midst by CAMP at Pad.ma, Matrix of the Not-Yet at Underground Art and Design, New York; Critical Zones at Goethe Institut, New Delhi; TEXTXET at the Foundation of Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) New Delhi; States of Disarray: Practice as Restitution, at Kochi Muziris Biennale; India Art Fair; All That Is Solid Melts into Air at Anant Art Gallery; Synchronicities at Art.H9 Gallery Hong Kong amongst many other spaces. He has also been published in Alternative South Asian Photography (ASAP), Foreign Objekt, and UAAD New York.
Rahul also detected Hekh in 2023, a multifaceted cultural interface bringing together artists through publications, gatherings, happenings, etc., to map and inject new imaginations of being a young cultural practitioner in the now. He is currently the principal resonator at Hekh and the editor of the journal Call.
